Blog Session 5: Personal Opinions

My opinion about animal testing it`s against because I think that we as humans have no right to interfere with the life of another living being just for personal benefits as a species, each living being is the owner of its life just like us. I think we have enough intelligence to create new models of study, either cell culture, bioinformatics, which do not involve the suffering of animals.

My opinion about recycling is that it has already become a form of survival, because the world is so contaminated with elements that are "single-use" or that take a long time to degrade that, we need a break and allow us to continue living on the planet.

But we cannot remain alone with the idea that recycling fixes the issue of pollution, we must reach a state of our development in which no waste is produced, and that is called circular economy. The current economic system is diametrically opposed to the life cycle of nature and conflicts with sustainable development, which is focused on the long term. In nature, there is no such thing as garbage or landfill: all elements have a continuous function and are reused in different stages. Taking the cyclical model of nature as an example, the circular economy advocates using as many biodegradable materials as possible in the manufacture of consumer goods so that they can be returned to nature without causing environmental damage when their useful life is over. In cases where it is not possible to use eco-friendly materials such as electronic components, metals, batteries, etc., the objective will be to facilitate a simple decoupling to give them a new life by reincorporating them into the production cycle and composing a new part. When this is not possible, it will be recycled in an environmentally friendly way.

  1. Nor do I agree with animal experimentation, but at least on our campus there is a high regulation of it by Professor Carla Delporte.
